Live jazz in Torbay

Two excellent live jazz gigs into our move to our new venue at the Toorak Hotel in Torquay, Devon and things are shaping up nicely. From the comfort of The Toorak’s Arlington Suite we are able to provide the perfect setting for listening to and enjoying some of the best, live jazz music available.

We have had quite a line-up of jazz artists since we took over Speakeasy Jazz: The Sirkis/Bialas International Quartet, The Neil Maya Quartet, The Corrie Dick Quintet and, since the move to The Toorak Hotel, The Rosanna Brandi Quartet and The Tassos Spiliotopoulos Quartet.

SpeakeasyTorquay will be continuing with more excellent jazz artists with the common theme that they are all really great jazz musicians. The type of jazz will continue to be broad based and incorporating influences from folk, world music, soul, gospel, funk and blues. Exciting and eclectic, it will be jazz music at its best.

We have a programme currently lined up that already stretches through to Autumn 2017, that offers a wide variety of jazz and features a good number of women jazz musicians.  So, this is no wholly male jazz preserve, we want to appeal to everyone that appreciates the very best in contemporary jazz and that includes women in jazz.

SpeakeasyTorquay has great live jazz, comfortable surroundings and a very good bar. We look forward to you joining us for an exciting night of live music.

Jim Burlong has written a  superb review of SpeakeasyTorquay’s September live jazz gig with Rosanna Brandi, for the jazz blog jazzviews.
