Becca Langsford comes from a strong musical background; her father played harmonica with Plymouth-based band ‘The Legal Eagles’ and her brothers are all musicians with direct links to blues and roots music. Being raised on the likes of Taj Mahal, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin gave her an early insight into blues, soul and gospel music.
In 2008 she was invited to sing onstage by virtuoso blues guitarist/vocalist, Vince Lee and his band, The Big Combo. After recording together on various different projects, they decided to book some shows as a duo, and have been together ever since! They share vocal duties on a varied set of classic blues and self written tunes featuring Vince’s authentic guitar stylings and Becca’s driving washboard rhythms. They are influenced by the pioneers of early blues, Bessie Smith, Leadbelly, Memphis Minnie & Blind Boy Fuller to name a few. Together they have played shows all over the southwest.
Becca released her debut album, ‘Big Surprise’ in 2011 and has also worked with many local artists, including Head of Programmes, The Wildcards and Thomas Ford, adding backing vocals and washboard.
In 2015 she was introduced to Martin Barre (of Jethro Tull) and was asked to join the band on tour, as a backing singer/percussionist alongside well-known country singer, and good friend, Alex Hart. Martin offered them the opportunity to open the shows during our recent tour in Germany, and so they began developing a set of country blues and folk inspired tunes. They released their debut EP ‘Long Way Home’ in October 2015, featuring 4 songs that were recorded, mixed and mastered by Vince Lee, who also plays guitar and double bass on the record. More recently, Alex and Becca have been working on some original material and are looking forward to touring more in Europe with Martin later this year. Becca and Vince are also working on a new duo record.

“Smooth, rich and spicy – like syrup with a kick of chilli – it still belies her youthful years. The secret of her talent is well and truly out. ”
